Innovative optical extensometer for metals testing: every test is valid

The new optical extensometer for tensile testing of metals is equipped with blue light technology. This enhances the natural pattern of the sample surface, which can be used directly for non-contact strain measurement with virtual measuring marks. The advantage is thus the mark-free measurement, which brings efficiency gains and time savings by eliminating the need for markings. In combination with the implemented software algorithms, the reliability of the test results is also increased, as minor lateral specimen movements are automatically corrected during the test. The number of invalid test results in the elastic range is also significantly minimized.
In the lecture, the new videoXtens will be presented using typical application examples. The videoXtens offers further added value, such as strain distribution, test re-run for repeated evaluation, automatic adjustment of the virtual measuring marks around the fracture position according to Annex I of ISO 6892-1, the 2D DIC and much more.
