Edge crack sensitivity plays a major role in characterizing materials used in vehicle components important for energy absorption during crashes. This seminar will introduce and demonstrate a method, that can be performed by a single tensile testing machine. A series of tensile tests uses pre-notched sheet metal specimens and analyzes the systematic behavior with different notch depths. A special tool is used by the tensile testing machine and applied to the notched specimen before the standard tensile test is performed.
