ISO Standards
ISO standards (International Organization for Standardization) are internationally recognized standards that play an important role in materials and component testing. They define the methodology and framework parameters and thus ensure that test procedures are carried out uniformly and reliably worldwide in order to guarantee the quality and safety of materials and products.
In plastics testing, the primary focus is on the inter-laboratory comparability, repeatability, and traceability of test results. The underlying test methods are regulated by standards such as ISO 527 (tensile test), ISO 178 (flexure test), or ISO 1133 (melt flow index). To evaluate the mechanical properties of metals, tensile tests according to ISO 6892-1 and ISO 6892-2 or impact tests according to ISO 148-1 are important. In component testing, standards such as ISO 898 are used when testing threaded fasteners including screws, bolts and nuts.
