Standard bending tests are generally easy to handle and simple to evaluate. A more sophisticated bending test must be used when evaluating advanced steel and aluminum alloys and their forming processes for the automotive industry. The VDA 238-100 is a guideline and an automotive industry internal standard procedure that qualifies sheet metal material for specific forming processes. The guideline describes a bending or hemming test that requires a mechanical device that is very stiff. The webinar will introduce the requirements in detail and the technical solution developed based on years of experience in this particular area. In addition, options for optical evaluation of the tests will be presented.
