Universal testing machines

Our universal testing machines are specially designed for tensile tests, compression tests and flexure tests. They are ideal for testing applications in all areas—whether it be quality control or research projects—delivering outstanding performance in challenging materials and component testing situations.

Developed by our experts, these universal testing machines for the 200 N to 2,500 kN force range offer a wide span of test strokes and test speeds and feature high-quality load frames combined with intelligent drive systems.

Fatigue testers

Dynamic testing machines are used to examine the behavior of materials or components under cyclic loads. This is particularly important for applications in which the material is subjected to repeated loads. Dynamic testing machines simulate the load that a material may be exposed to in real-life applications, in order to predict it’s durability and load-bearing capacity.

We use various physical drive principles for our fatigue testing machines. Each method has its own advantages and specific application ranges. This allows us to find the right solution for every one of your specifications.

The ZwickRoell hardness testing program includes a full range of hardness testers and hardness testing machines for metals, plastics, rubber and special materials covering all significant and internationally recognized test methods and standards—from manual standard applications to fully automated testing systems.

Impact testing

Impact testers help determine the failure behavior of materials or components under rapid loads and changing temperatures. ZwickRoell impact testing machines include pendulum impact testers and drop weight testers.

You will find a wide range of pendulum impact testers for notched-specimen impact tests on plastics and metals. We provide standard-compliant testing to Charpy, Dynstat and Izod, as well as tensile impact-Method A/B from 5.5 to 750 joules.

Our drop weight testers are ideal for testing of plastics and composites, as well as metals testing. The Amsler HIT series drop weight testers range from 230 to 2,000 joules, and the high-energy drop weight testers for metals testing go up to 120,000 joules.

Extrusion plastometers

Our extrusion plastometers (also referred to as melt flow index testers) are used for reliable characterization of the flow properties of plastics. The demands on melt flow indexers vary according to the processing stage in the plastics industry. We offer the perfect testing instrument for every testing volume.

HDT & Vicat testing instruments

The thermal resistance of many plastic applications is measured using the heat deflection temperature and the HDT/Vicat (ISO 75 and ISO 306).

The HDT/Vicat tester is used in particular in research and development, incoming goods inspection, production monitoring and for teaching and training purposes.

Creep testing machines

Our creep testing machines are ideal for creep testing at room and high temperatures up to +2,200°C and in different environmental conditions. They offer a wide range of applications: classic and extended creep tests, creep fatigue tests with alternating loads, relaxation tests, crack propagation/expansion tests as well as short-term tensile, compression and bending loads.

Biaxial and Triaxial Testing Machines

ZwickRoell offers various solutions for biaxial and triaxial materials testing:

  • the torsion testing machines can be used to perform biaxial tests (tension or compression combined with torsion) on materials or components.
  • ZwickRoell's product range also includes biaxial testing machines for cruciform tests. These are particularly suitable for component testing and for testing natural and artificial elastic fabrics.
  • Triaxial testing machines have been specially developed for the characterization of biomaterials, soft orthotropic tissue and cardiovascular tissue. The specimen is loaded either by a tensile-compression test with biaxial shear loading or by a tensile test with simultaneous torsion and internal pressure (inflation).

Sheet metal testing machines from ZwickRoell are used to determine and evaluate the characteristic values of sheet metal forming. They support development processes in the characterization of new alloys and new metalworking technologies, as well as in eventual series production.
