Strain rate control to standards DIN EN ISO 6892-1:2009 and ASTM E8-09.

The pneumatic grips are single actuator specimen grips. The grips are opened and closed pneumatically and the gripping force before the test is also applied pneumatically via a toggle switch valve on the grip. It is not possible to change the compression force on the specimen grip. There is no need for an additional pneumatic control unit, however it can be added as an option. The opposing jaw can be steplessly adjusted.

Pneumatic Control Unit for Specimen Grips

Function description

The pneumatic grips are single actuator specimen grips. The grips are opened and closed pneumatically and also the gripping force before the test is applied pneumatically via a toggle switch valve on the specimen grips.

It is not possible to change the compression force at the specimen grip.

No additional pneumatic control unit is required, however one can be used alternatively.

Advantages

  • Constant pneumatic pressure allows even specimens prone to shrinkage to be held securely.
  • Constant gripping force enables repeatable test results to be achieved.
  • High specimen throughput thanks to quick specimen insertion and exact centering with insertion aid and guide groove.
  • Grips operated via toggle lever for fast, easy specimen changes.
  • Adjustable opposing jaw for fast, easy testing, including joined (asymmetrical) specimens
  • Ergonomic, open design for fast, easy specimen insertion and clamping

Pneumatic grips in the temperature chamber

The pneumatic grip has a special connector unit for use in temperature chambers with an integrated compressed air supply. A receptacle for condensation water serves as a drainage system to remove condensation from the test area.

The opposing jaw can be adjusted steplessly or set-by-step.

The height of the connector unit depends on the testing system in use, on the temperature chamber, and on the stroke ratios, which depend on the specimen, in the temperature chamber. Therefore they are determined according to the order.

Pneumatic Control Unit for Specimen Grips

The closing force of the pneumatic grips can be steplessly set via a pneumatic control unit, which ensures safe gripping of a wide range of different materials. The opening and closing of the specimen grips can be controlled by foot switches or via the remote control of the materials testing machine for greater operating comfort.
